Support with Confidence – Plymouth City Council
Support with Confidence is a new scheme that has been set up and approved by the National Trading Standards Board.
Training, customer references and a selection of thorough background checks are required for accreditation approval.
The scheme helps you with:
- Self-directed support;
- Flexibility and direction to make the best choices around you or a loved one’s care and support;
- Reassurance that you are buying from a trustworthy business by only listing local businesses in the area that have been approved under the scheme;
- Offering you choice when selecting products- not narrowing you down to one product;
- Showing you what products are out there to help you;
- Living independently at home for as long as possible.
As an approved member of the Support with Confidence scheme, we have to:
- Abide by the Support with Confidence code of conduct;
- Follow very strict terms and conditions to make sure we provide our customers with the quality and care of service they deserve.

- To ensure there is a mechanism in place to discuss, at any time, but at least once a year, with disabled employees what can be done to make sure they can develop and use their abilities;
- To make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment;
- To take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work;
- To review the five commitments each year and what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.
