The phone doesn’t have a standard number pad, instead there are four large short-cut buttons that can be programmed. Simply press the name of the person you want to call and the green button and the call is made.
The buttons are programmed remotely using Doro’s trusted online Experience Manager and they can be re-programmed and changed depending on the preference of the user.
These names can be written clearly next to the button making it clear and simple to see. This phone also features a speaker-phone.
The robust phone is easily graspable with its rubber chassis design around the outside and is completely waterproof.
With the use of the large speed dial buttons, the backlit keypad and sounding tones, all these features combined make this phone perfect if you have a visual impairment.
This smartphone is also compatible with hearing aids so that it meets HAC (Hearing Aid Compatibility) standards.
The phone comes with a battery and standalone charging station for you to use whenever you aren’t using the phone.
Safety and Alerts
Although there is no keypad, 999 calls are possible, by pressing menu and then choosing ‘Emergency’.
The phone’s Assistance Button is also a way of calling for help. Once pressed it will automatically call and send an SMS alert to pre-set numbers along with GPS location information should you ever need help.
By programming our Telecare number as one of your contacts, you can make sure that no assistance call goes unanswered.
Once the call is connected, one of our telecarers will assess the situation and arrange the most appropriate help; from arranging emergency services to the person’s home to simply contacting a family member or a carer.
If the telecarer cannot establish communication with the person they will automatically organise the emergency services to attend.
Please add Telecare to your basket separately.
IUP (Isolated User Protection) (Doro 580 IUP version only)
Another great feature which makes this phone unique is the Safety Timer function, available on the IUP version only.
The Safety Timer enables the phone to react to set periods of inactivity or movement to quickly contacting your pre-programmed emergency contacts via a call or text.
For example, before taking a shower activate the safety timer and if not deactivated within a set time, your predefined help numbers are notified.
